Maybe Privacy Policy

Scope

This policy describes the owner-private Maybe review and its optional Google map picker. The application remains private even though this policy is publicly available.

Live Google ratings and walking/driving calculations are not enabled in the version covered by this policy. They would involve additional data processing and will be described before activation.

Choices stored in your browser

Maybe stores selected neighborhoods and meal categories, cuisine and budget preferences, straight-line radius settings, skipped places, saved “maybes” and the order of places in your browser tab’s session storage. This lets your choices survive a reload within that session.

The application’s restaurant-discovery code processes these choices locally rather than uploading them to a Maybe profile database. “Reset this tab’s choices” replaces those saved choices with a fresh state. You can also clear the site’s browser data. Browser restoration behavior may affect how long a session remains available.

Exact starting-point coordinates are kept in page memory, not in this session-storage record. They clear on reload, when you reset the tab’s choices, or when you choose “Forget starting point.”

Optional device location

Maybe requests device location only when you choose a location button and your browser permits it. It obtains a one-time reading rather than continuously tracking your location.

Depending on the control you choose, the reading is used locally to suggest a neighborhood or select a starting point. You can instead choose a neighborhood or enter coordinates manually. Browser permissions can be revoked through your browser or device settings.

Opening Google Maps

The interactive Google map does not load automatically when you open restaurant discovery. When the feature is enabled, a notice appears before you choose to load it.

Loading and interacting with the map connects your browser to Google. Google receives network and browser information, including your IP address, and information associated with the map area you view and your interactions. Google processes information under its Privacy Policy.

The map initially opens at a general Miami view, not at your device location or an existing starting point. A pin remains a draft within Maybe until you confirm it. Closing the map or cancelling a draft cannot retract information already received by Google while the map was open.

The current map-only configuration does not send a starting point to Google for route calculation, and it does not request live restaurant ratings.

Sign in and hosting

The private application uses ChatGPT sign-in and access controls. The hosting integration can provide the application with a site-specific user identifier, an email address and, when available, a name. The map-configuration endpoint checks the site-specific identifier to confirm that the request is signed in.

The reviewed application code does not copy those sign-in fields into a Maybe user-profile database or send them to Google as part of map configuration. OpenAI and its hosting infrastructure may process authentication, network and security information to provide the service under their own policies. See OpenAI’s Privacy Policy.

Other websites and public policy pages

Following a menu, directions or reservation link connects you to another website. That website may receive information from your browser and operates under its own privacy practices.

These public policy pages do not provide access to the private application. They are hosted through Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may process request and security information, including IP addresses and browser information, to deliver and protect the pages. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy.

The policy-page source includes no analytics scripts, advertising, forms, map embeds, third-party fonts, or browser-storage code. Hosting-level cookies and logging are governed by the providers’ practices; this is not a promise that no network information is collected.

Your choices and questions

You can use restaurant discovery without opening Google Maps, decline device-location access, forget a selected starting point, reset the tab’s choices or clear the site’s browser data.

For questions about this policy or a privacy request, contact [email protected]. Requests concerning information held independently by Google or OpenAI may also need to be directed to those providers.
